After the success that Chamber Choir Ars Musica achieved in 2013 with the multi-year concept BACH TO THE WORD, this line was successfully continued in various places in 2014 and now also in 2015.
Central to this concept is the making audible of musical and textual lines from Bach's church music to music from other times. For example, the completely new composition 'Abendlied' by Daan Manneke fits entirely into the total program created from Bach's motet BWV 227: 'Jesu, meine Freude'. It is certainly worthwhile to come and listen to the original motet alongside this new work. An evening on which past and present meet and lead to an unprecedented musical experience! Do you like to sing and are you a fan of Bach? Then come to the sing-along workshop Bach Chorals, starting at 19:30. Together with the professional singers of Chamber Choir Ars Musica and under the inspiring leadership of Patrick van der Linden, we study Bach's music. Attention will also be paid to background information about singing Bach's masterful chorales and, if necessary, you will receive tips from the singers about the correct use of the voice.
After the sing-along workshop Bach chorales you can immediately enjoy the beautiful concert of Chamber Choir Ars Musica with the central motet BWV 226 'Der Geist hilft unsrer Schwachheit auf'. A program with Bach and composers who were inspired by Bach and his music.
In BACH TO THE WORD, Bach's sacred works form the pivot of the programme. Parallels are drawn from the theme of the motet 'Jesu, meine Freude' to compositions by Schütz, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Distler and others. A commissioned composition has also been written especially for this program by the well-known composer Daan Manneke.
