The Advent concert of the Ars Musica Foundation has now become a pleasant tradition. Over the years, Advent and Christmas music from different regions and in various styles have passed by. This year, this concert has a special touch: the evening is linked to a composition competition, organized by Ars Musica in collaboration with theologian-poet Sytze de Vries, who supplied the text for the forthcoming composition. The winning composition will be announced during the concert and then performed for the first time by the choirs of Ars Musica. The winner then hears his work being performed for the first time and receives the Ars Musica Composition Prize on that evening. In addition, according to tradition, all choirs will perform in various compositions, inspired by the theme 'Dona nobis pacem'. The Girls' Choir even performs a Dutch premiere with 'In te, Domine' by Grzegorz Mi'skiewicz! The atmosphere evoked by the 'Dona nobis pacem' by the Latvian composer Vasks is impressive.
