Ein deutsches Requiem by Brahms is not just any requiem.
The classical Requiem Mass traditionally consists of a number of fixed requiem texts. Instead, Brahms did something special: he chose his own biblical texts. The result is a wide-ranging requiem full of comfort, with many lyrical and musical highlights. And unlike most requiems, Ein deutsches Requiem ends full of hope. Merwes' Oratorio Society performs the piece with the accompaniment of the Ars Musica Orchestra – a version that is not often performed. Together with two top soloists, the musicians guarantee a special performance conducted by Patrick van der Linden. Merwes' Oratorio Society
